Exciting news for residents of Point Defiance!

There is a new member of the Point Defiance community and she is making her debut today! A rare Sumatran tiger cub was discovered in a nest box on April 17th by members of the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. The baby tiger was a surprise to staff members at the zoo, as her mother Jaya did not show any signs of pregnancy. Starting today at 10am, 2pm and continuing daily, visitors can watch as zookeepers bottle-feed and interact with the cub as mother Jaya has shown very little interest in her. The new cub joins her older brothers Bima, Dumai and her father Malosi, all of which also live at the Point Defiance Zoo. The cub’s name is also expected to be announced today by the zoo.  At only 3 weeks old, staff members say that the cub is already showing signs of her personality and that the name they have chosen suits her developing characteristics. If you are looking for some fun for the whole family, this is a unique experience that should definitely not be missed!
